JR slinging the rock and breaking free on the ground. Might have missed it, but wats his build style qb comparison? Seems to be reading coverage well too and protecting from INTs

Dang close one to Miami.
djp73, Man, I strongly believe if Donte Langston (#48) wasn't in front for the trap, that would've been six and game.

Captain Canada, Yeah, this one hurts a bit. We had it in the bag, the run was looking good and boom, got cased. Yes sir, two gloves all day #NoSweatyPalms

mvp, I'll have you know, nobody slings "The Great One" like JR :curtain:
Build style is improviser. Gives him the best potential attributes-wise. Could've gone with scrambler, but his health would be the least of the three. With wear & tear being a factor in this game, wouldn't make sense to take a dip there for a runner.

Chapter IV: The Devil's Whisper

Image

Tech Square, Midtown Atlanta, is where Dina and Jodi took a late morning scroll through the town. Half the time, they spent gossiping, the other half, window shopping as the town was beginning to bustle just before lunch. After losing to the Miami Hurricanes by a mere point, the Yellow Jackets had to endure a week off with a bye before they could get back on the field and make up with for the loss. With just two games left on the schedule, Jodi needed to make it happen if they wanted to participate in a bowl game. For now, all Jodi could do is focus on the task at hand, getting him-self some new threads...

"Dina, just want to thank you again for coming with me. Nobody more than me understands how much power it takes to roll out of bed on a Sunday morning."

"No worries, I'm happy to come along. It's not everyday I get to go shopping for men's suit."

"You say it like that, I fear I detect a hint of envy in your tone," Jodi jested. "But for real, you girls know your shopping markets, so I appreciate the lead."

"Envy? Hah! Whomever thy desire a gaze from has neither to or fro of a worry of acknowledgement. Such pettiness is beneath me!"

"Okay, Shakespeare, whatever you say."

"Hey, this girl you've been talking to, it better be worth it. To ask another woman out to help with a date preparation, that takes a different kind of boldness."

"You saying you got the hots for me, Dina?" Jodi asked, poking fun.

"Maybe, maybe not. A woman never reveals her secrets," she says playfully as she turns her nose up at Jodi as smug as she could. "Here's the store, right here, Q Clothier. One of the best retails for men's suits in town, at least nearby."

"I asked around prior to us meeting up, someone said that BoysNextDoor was also a good shop to take a spin on."

Dina's cheeks flared up, barely containing her laugh as she covered her face. "Jodi, remember that clothing line, FUBU? Their slogan, "for u, by u"? BoysNextDoor is kind of like that, "for boys, by boys", if you catch my drift, " Dina continued to snicker at Jodi's ignorance.

"For boys, by- oooh, nah, nah, nah, chill, chill, I'm good on that. The fuck? Homeboy tried to set me up with some flare shit? Nah. We gonna go right up in here and see what's happening."

Though Jodi was secured in his sexuality, he was adamant about passing up on that retail by any means as Dina enjoyed the tease. The two made their way to the middle of the block and headed inside Q Clothier, a suit store that dealt in custom fits. After spending roughly 45 minutes inside, Jodi finished with his fitting consulting and made the purchase for his suit to be expeditiously prepared as he paid for it with his mother's credit card, which Cassia sternly expressed his responsibility with the card's usage. In this case, Jodi was in need of a new suit to compensate his new gains as his go-to suit has become a thing in the past. With all the simple details done, Jodi could expect his new suit to arrive by Friday as the tailor predicted...

Later in the week, Jodi gets a call from Q Clothier, notifying the suit was available for pick up, as the tailor was spot on with their turn around. After a hop in a Uber, Jodi picked up his merch and returned to Eighth Street to try on the suit. Jodi calls over a few friends, Dina, Gabriel and Troy to get their opinion on the new threads before the date night.

"So, what y'all think?" Jodi asked while sitting in posture. "This GQ or no?"

"I think you look gorgeous, Jodi," Dina first to give her opinion, "Got to give major credit to the tailor, he did an absolute bang up job on the suit."

"Yeah, I got to agree, that fit is cold, my man," Troy followed up.

Jodi glanced over his right should to Gabriel who stood there in silence, "last, but not least of all, what's your thoughts G'?"

"My exact thoughts is I can't believe I was pulled out of bed just to see your funky ass suit."

"What? Come on fam, don't be like that. I didn't just pull y'all away from y'all Sunday, I wanted to chill with y'all too."

"Whatever nicca, you just trying to stunt for some broad you never introduced to us, some friend you are," Gabriel sarcastically shot at Jodi.

"I mean, can I see how the date goes first? Can't introduce someone to my peoples and she's a dubb."

"What's her name? You can at least tell us that." Dina interjected.

"She's Tiffany Johnson. She goes here to this school. We had crossed paths a couple months ago."

"Oh yeah, I think I heard of her in passing," said Troy. "I think she has a afternoon class with me, I'm not sure. I don't be looking in people's faces like that, but I recall hearing her name though. Something about her being a track star from high school or something."

"Yeah, that's her," Jodi confirmed.

"Okay Jodi, I see you go for the athletic type," Dina tease. "I hope she's as cute as she is fit. Just something appealing about a woman with a bit of definition."

"Definitely. Dark brown hair, mocha skin complexion, she's more fit than she let on, she dusted my ass in a race not long ago."

"Say word? Jodi let some chick put the feets on him like that?" Gabriel joked.

"I mean, she said she haven't ran in a year, could've fooled me for sure."

"Shit, Jodi, first you get beat by a girl, then you're too slow to beat Miami-" Troy joked but gets interrupted by Jodi.

"Slow your roll there, buddy, you not about that play action, or should I tell Michelle that you skipped church with her family to be here?"

"Uh oh," Gabriel incited.

"I don't know what you talking about, I didn't say nothing man. I don't appreciate all this hostility coming from you, Jodi. I thought we were friends," Troy smiled.

"Uh huh, " Jodi returned.

"Anyway guys, if the date goes well, definitely bring her around, so we can really get the deets on her," Dina suggested. "You know can't nobody like a woman can sense a woman who's no good."

"Y'all women's intuition is about as shotty as a storm trooper," Gabriel aired out, leaving Dina with her mouth opened in disbelief. Dina looks over to Troy for support but all he gives is a silent nod in agreement.

"Jodi..."

"Don't look at me, I don't know shit about Star Wars."

"If you don't know anything about Star Wars, how'd you know where the storm trooper come from?" Troy asked curiously.

"My high school teacher is a fanatic for that stuff."

"Awh man, I wish I had a teacher that was!" Troy envied. "Talking in code, quip lines, references, that teacher was begging to give straight A's I bet."

"Probably, but a B+ was enough for me."

"If you're ever interested in watching it, I got a link with all the movies and tv shows."

"You got a link?" Gabriel asked Troy, "Yo, put me on, I've been looking to finish in chronological order. I'm trying to finish the Clone War series."

"No doubt, I got you."

As Gabriel and Troy talked amongst themselves about Star Wars, Dina reverts the topic on Jodi's date. "So, Jodi, where are you taking this Tiffany?"

"Some spot up over on West Atlanta, not too far from here. I can't remember the name of the place, but I got the pin on my maps." Jodi takes his phone and pulls up the location before handing it to Dina.

"Oh, that place is nice. I love the outdoor and rooftop access. This is a great spot. Look at you, Jodi. Getting adventurous on your own!."

"Hey, I gotta get familiar. If everything falls in line, this could be home at least for another three more years."

"Awe, well I hope so. I'm sure we all love to keep hanging out with you."

"And hopefully you get some wins with that team. That boy Haynes is wildly inconsistent," Gabriel added.

"Don't worry, if all is good, as I'm sure it is, I'ma do my best to bring a national title here before it's all said and done..."

Later that night, Jodi collects Tiffany, who was sporting a stunning long red dress with cropped top that exposed a bit of her midriff. Giving how nice the weather was, he felt kind of cheated to wear less. But for the sake of Tiffany's request, Jodi suited up. The two arrived at the designated date venue, where Jodi does his numbers correctly, offering the rose, holding the door, requesting the table he reserved, holding her seat out, pretty much giving her the full gentleman's sweep where all she had to do is look good on his arm, and that she did. While Jodi felt a bit nervous not to screw things up on his first date post-Prisha, Tiffany reassured his great company and boosted his confidence. She was scoring brownie points with the freshman like it was nobody's business.

"I'm glad you brought us here, Jodi. This place and it's view is very romantic."

"I'm glad it holds up to your expectations."

"It's not like my expectations were to begin with. Just spending time with you was enough."

"I see, so why the whole suit gimmick? We could've just been casual, gone somewhere and have a good time."

"And we still can. Just a part of me wanted to know how much you would have done for me, and I'm more than impressed with you."

"I guess the results is all that matters in the end, I'm happy with that."

"But I can tell you're a bit hot in that suit," Tiffany giggled. "You don't have to sweat yourself out."

"Nah, I'm good. Me and this custom suit, we're all in. Besides, I got to break it in since it's a first time wear."

"Oooh, you really did go all out for this little college girl, huh?", she said as she smiled ear to ear.

"I'm not big on first impressions, but some things have to be done right, can't let you show me up and steal all the thunder," Jodi teased.

"Please, I'm sure if I didn't walk in here with you, someone would've tried to get your eye."

"Then, I'm glad I walked in here with you, you alone make this place a beautiful attraction," he says, putting the charm on Tiffany. Tiffany couldn't help but blush as her eyes were filled with starry twinkles. Perhaps she was feeling Jodi more than she led on.

When it was time to order, Jodi requested two lightly creamy Tuscan baked chicken with asparagus and two lemon-raspberry mimosas. Both enjoyed their succulent meal and beverage over conversation, getting to know each other. What they already knew on surface was that they liked each other, but tonight came with more intimate questions. Tiffany had asked about Jodi's past relationships, and though he was uncomfortable talking about it, he wasn't veering away from being honest. Jodi just wanted to put Prisha in the past permanently, but it seemed like her ghost always kept haunting him. But both of them had looked to move on from their past experiences and Tiffany was appreciative that Jodi was being open. The last thing she wanted to deal with was another guy who shut her out when it came to communication. Coincide, she didn't want to read into Jodi too deeply, neither did Jodi. They agreed on keep a bit of mystique would keep their enticement levels mutual.

After finishing their meal, Jodi and Tiffany headed topside of the restaurant, to put the finishing touches on their date and alone time. With a bit of a chill starting to set in, Jodi wraps his arms around Tiffany as she automatically smiles.

"I really had a good time with you, Jodi. Thank you for taking me out. A simple dinner with you is all I could ask for."

"I'm sure you want more than that, but something as simple as this gesture, I think I can provide you that for many more nights, if you're interested."

"I'm more than interested, I think I'd love nothing else," Tiffany says as she snuggles in his arms, overlooking the view.

"Uh huh, you're just saying yes to the free meals," Jodi lightly joked while kissing her cheek. The sound of his voice vibrating in Tiffany's ear had her gripping on Jodi's arms slightly more. Jodi complies by gripping his arms around her waist a bit tighter.

"The only meal I'm interested in is the main course, right here in front of me," she says enticingly.

"Allow me to serve you then." Jodi proceeds to lip lock with Tiffany, sharing a few passionate kisses to cap off the night. Still in his freshman year, every female Jodi has came across, he has hit it off with them in some degree, and tonight was no different. Even though it was too soon for Jodi to think about relationship, it was hard not to with how Tiffany was laying it on thick. She was clearly into him, and for some people, when you know, you know. For Jodi, that candle in his heart that he thought was going to remain unlit for the unforeseeable future, began to flicker just a bit. And as much as he wanted to tell Tiffany not to fall in love with him, he couldn't bring him-self to ruin the moment, or a good thing...

Just after 1 A.M., Jodi made sure Tiffany got in safe and began making his way home. Along the way, Jodi was checking all his missed calls and messages, mostly from Tyrone, his best friend back home. Having had his phone on silent, respecting Tiffany's company, Jodi hoped nothing was urgent as he reached back out to Tyrone...

"Yo, Ty, what's up brother, how's everything?"

"What's good family, where you been at? I've been blowing up your phone all night trying to get to you."

"I'm sorry man, I was out busy. I had my phone on silent, is everything okay? How's Moms doing?"

"Everyone is fine bro, except Prisha."

"Okay? What about her?" Jodi asked cautiously.

"Bro... I don't know how to tell you this..."

"What happened, Ty? I don't fuck with her anymore, but is she alright?"

"Well, you may not have a choice bro..."

"What you mean? Stop being vague man, I'm engaging, talk to me."

"Aight, man... So, I don't know if you heard, and I'm assuming you haven't cause you haven't talked to me about it. But uhh, Prisha out here wilding with a stomach."

"What? What're you on about?"

"Prisha... She's pregnant bro... And if she ain't sleeping with any other dude, you're lined up to be the father..."

Jodi goes silent for moments of time, trying to wrap his head around the life-changing news. Prisha was pregnant. With Jodi gutting her out on the regular since he took her virginity, he tried to recall if there was any time he didn't use a rubber. Then he remembered, there was a voicemail left unchecked, and after all this time, it remained waiting to be heard.

"Yo, let me call you back Ty, I got to check on something..." Jodi ends his call and calls up his voicemail, and sure enough, there was a voicemail from Prisha that was from months ago. The date lined up just around the time he had left Danville. Jodi played the message, listening to Prisha's voice, seemed haunting after not hearing it for months on out.

Image

[Prisha]: "Jodi... I'm calling you to let you know... That I'm pregnant with your child... Our child... We're going to be a family..."

Jodi quickly recalls their last sexual encounter back in March as he count the calendar. Lo and behold, Prisha was expecting a baby next month in December.

Jodi's mind drew blanks in trying to describe his emotions. Mixtures of bliss and happiness with Tiffany had already began to go to war with the regretful emotions towards Prisha. While it seems like a winnable battle for Tiffany to overcome Prisha, that baby that was inbound, was Prisha's ace in the hole, her coup de grâce...

"...Fuck..." The only word that could explicitly resound the echo chamber of his actions...

Coach finally gave that man the ball and told him to have fun. We got two games left, we'll see where they take us. But it looks like change might be coming.
