Chapter IV: A New Lease

The next day after finding the car on their lot, Jodi had explained everything that had happened, why the car was stolen, and how they ended up with a new car. What made things even better, yet awkward, Prisha's mother, Wanda, had insisted she visited and clear the air between our family. She was none too happy about spending money on anyone but her and her daughter, but Prisha charmed her-self into a situation she couldn't get out of. Cassia always had her reserves about Prisha, always nagging about how no-good she is, and perhaps she was right, but then again, she was once young and dumb too from the stories she had told in the past to Jodi. Though Cassia was extremely upset about her father's car, the car paled in comparison of the valuable memories she held dearly. Ultimately, both families let bygones be bygones. And naturally, they advised Jodi and Prisha to have space of each other and let things cool down, but that too, ultimately, wasn't their decision.

Two days later, Thursday, freed it-self up just before Saturday. Coach Johnny Millard had iterated and emphasized that there would be practice later that day, but personal matters had intervene and forced a cancellation. Most of the squad was relieved of no practice, be it bite them in the ass later or not. So Jodi made his way home to get some rest after homework. Later as the day was going into the evening, Jodi spoke to Tyrone via texting, giving him the scoop of what happened about the whole ordeal.

Jodi was reluctant taking Tyrone's advice, usually anything revolving around guidance from him ends up being a rabbit hole, but there was a part of him that wanted to talk to Prisha and see if it's worth salvaging. Jodi sets things in motion by leaving his phone behind to charge as he jumped in the shower to freshen up. He threw on a pair of gray Moschino cargo-joggers with the Off-White AJ1s and a Dwyane Wade Miami Vice Heat jersey. Although it was December, the weather was anything but chill tonight. After lacing up on his jewelry, Jodi made his exit and into his brand new Audi. While he still wanted to be upset about losing his foster grandfather's car, he did feel a slight of excitement sitting in a car worth $100 grand. The new car scent was intoxicating to him, verifying that this car was no one else's but his. After tinkering with adjustments and settings, Jodi plugged in Prisha's new home address in the gps and made his way over in 20 minutes as it was a bit closer. Just as Jodi pulled into their front yard, he was greeted by Prisha at the door. She tried her best to contain her excitement in seeing Jodi, but a slight smile and a bite of the bottom lip displayed on her face as she twirled her hair around her left index finger.

"I didn't think you'd come, Jodi. I'm glad you did." Prisha stepped off the elevated foundation, meeting jodi halfway with a hug, embracing him tighter than he usually recalls. Although Jodi didn't want to seem overly welcoming after all that took place, his feelings for Prisha and bodily chemicals made him react to the hug and wrap his left arm around her. Even though it was a half-hearted hug, a smile grew on Prisha's face as she nestle her face in his chest, smelling the freshness of his recent bathe.

"I got your text message, figured you wanted to talk."

"I do, but not right now, really. Come. Come inside with me, there's something I want to show you."

"What is it?" Jodi asked.

"Just come along, it's a surprise."

The two 18-year-olds took a detour from the front, heading up the staircase to the the balcony that entered the house closer to Prisha's room. Despite not seeing all of the home, from what Jodi could see, he was colored impressed by how well The Woodsons were doing. He knew they were stupid rich, but there was no short changing the lavish style they lived. Wanda made sure the two had the best in the neighborhood and spare no expenses from the greenery, the adjacent pool, the floor wood, the infrastructure layout, the decor from the soft white walls to the tertiary of chestnut and teak oak throughout the place. Not sure if it everything from furniture to decor were handpicked or a hired home decor had done the job, but The Woodsons' home looked nothing less than a million bucks for a house that wasn't a manor.

"This new place is incredible, y'all really outdid y'allselves."

"Thank you. You'll have to excuse my room though, it's not totally furnished to my liking. It's a lot smaller than my previous room, but I love the view that it offers."

After stepping in behind Prisha, Jodi sees the mentioned tight space, but the windows were the main attraction of the room. Big, clean, crystal clear windows that gave the showcase of the garden and landscape from the side of the house that detailed a linear canal path of water flowing to the river bank. And with night approaching, the fireflies that roamed about, lit up the space, giving it an intimate aura to the view.

"I can see why. From the outside, this place looked like a glass house with these wall-sized windows, but this is dope. I dig this place already more than the old place."

Prisha then wraps her arms around Jodi from behind, lying her head on his back. "You know you're always welcome to come here, anytime." Prisha rebutted while inexplicably blushing.

Image

"What about your mother? Won't she be home any time soon? You know I should really be here right now."

"No, stay. She's away on business... I don't want to be home alone, Jodi. I need you here."

It didn't take long for Jodi to see there was a drastic change in Prisha's attitude, and it made him very weary about it, almost like as if he was being set up somehow.

"Prisha, you sure you're alright? You're being too nice all of a sudden."

"Relax, Jodi. I had some time to think about things. I know I can be a diva sometimes, but you know I care for you. I have strong feelings for you. And how I behaved and reacted lately, I was wrong. And I'm sorry, Jodi. I'll say it a million times if I have to. I just want you to understand that I'm really sincere about my apology in how I've treated you... You deserve much more respect than I credit after putting up with me and my craziness."

"Craziness is putting it mildly."

"Okay, I was bat-shit crazy. But nothing more would drive me more crazy than to lose the man I love..."

In a way, Prisha awaited for Jodi to fold and reciprocate the love back to her, but she also knew that it was asking for too much of a fairy tale. With her understanding how much of a loose cannon she can be, she ought to be grateful that Jodi was still in her life, and now realizing it, she was.

"So, what's this surprise you said you had? Or did I drive here for nothing?"

"No, you didn't drive here for nothing, I promise you. Take a seat, get comfortable while I go get it for you."

Prisha let her grip on Jodi go as she turned to the room door and scampered out of sight. Jodi concedes to the offer and sits on Prisha's bed, kicking his legs up after feeling just how soft, yet firm, the mattress was. The feel of the comforter underneath was cool to the touch, plush, as the luxurious linen gave off satin soothings. Moments later, footsteps could be heard returning to the room and the door slowly opens as Prisha inches her way in coated in shyness.

Image

What Jodi saw of the specimen before him had garnered all his immediate attention, sitting up from slouching on the pillows. Prisha stood at the foot of the bed with her backside to Jodi. She was extremely nervous and was doing her best to quell her nerves. Jodi has seen Prisha's body before, plenty times while wearing a swimsuit, but never on this level of intimacy before. For the first time in five years, Jodi was not looking at Prisha as a woman with an incredible body, but as a woman wearing her vulnerability on her skin. Jodi saw the timidness, her shot nerves on display, only saying what he knew would calm her down.

"You look like if there were three judges sitting here, they all would give you tens. You'd clear that beauty pageant effortlessly."

'You're just saying that."

Jodi sits up even more, eyeing Prisha from her feet up. For him, everything was on point. The smooth skin, no marks, no bruises, no cuts. Her legs lightly sheened with a bit of oil, her skin was immaculate. Not too petite, her body hinted at curves where they should be. Her body was nicely toned, put together like your typical "trophy wife", but Prisha simply like taking care of her-self. Her lingerie, black, designed with pink and green floral designs that matched both the panty and brassiere. The black fishnet garb stitched to the bottom of the brassiere hanged around her torso, off shading her complexion to contrast the other colors highlighted. She was a true red bone Goddess in Jodi's eyes. Standing before Prisha, he takes her hand and twirls her around, getting a 360 view in which brought a delightful smile to Prisha's face, blushing.

"I never had a reason to lie to you about something so true."

Image

"You look incredibly amazing, you always have, Prisha. But we don't have to do this. It's not necessary right now-"

"I know baby, but I do want to." Prisha interjected as she confirms her intentions. "I've waited for this day for so long, and I couldn't think of a better time to do this, despite everything that happened. Remember what I said? That I was saving my-self for you?"

"Yeah, I remember."

"Let me submit to you, make me yours Jodi. Let me show you how much I truly love you..."

Image

Caged inside the luxurious home, the chains of lust had finally broken and the beast within Jodi came seeping out of his pores from catching whiffs of her pheromones. Despite everything Prisha had put Jodi through over the years, the two had chemistry, and tonight, that chemistry was amplified more than ever as the sparks between the two had rifled through the amorous air. With the event that was about to take place, it would be her first time. Although nervous, Prisha seemed committed to go all in as she helped remove Jodi's clothes. With Jodi having the upperhand in experience, he had the grace and knowledge in marking his territory in her temple. Now, there's the old saying, "the blacker the berry, the sweeter the juice", but Jodi wondered how her lousy attitude would correlate with her pink lushes. Soon after both fully undressed each other, Prisha gets an eyeful of Jodi's member and almost backed out of the situation. Quickly gathering her barrings, she pleaded with Jodi to take it easy on her. But that tone would quickly change as the beats by Jodi commenced throughout the night after he slid on the rubber.

After two hours, a few rounds and a broken condom, the two had conceded the carnal indulgence of each other. Both breathing heavy, trying to catch their breath and slow their heartbeat to regular paces. The sweat on both bodies glistened to match the aroma and body heat they shared. Dazed and slightly off kilter, Prisha could barely sit upright. "Wow." Prisha said. "That was so amazing. So damn better than I thought it would be. But I thought I told you to go easy on me? You left me really sore down there."

"For someone who had just lost their virginity card, you sure knew what you were doing. You looked like you wanted to be manhandled."

"I mean, perhaps I looked a couple videos before you got here." Prisha kissed on Jodi's neck up to behind his ear. "Or maybe I'm just that good for my first try. But you were everything and so much more I could imagine, Jodi."

"Is that so?" Jodi looks into her eyes, seeing the sincerity with her rosy cheeks.

"Absolutely baby." Prisha coined with another sensual kiss as she draped her body over his shoulders.

"As much as I am glad you enjoyed it, we will still have to have that talk... But not right now, I'm not going to kill the mood." Jodi stated.

"Yes, daddy, anything for you." Prisha said seductively.

Again, words Jodi has never once heard before, as if something inside Prisha just hit a switch and brought her out in total femininity. Jodi took note of this as he dressed him-self with Prisha looking on. "It's getting late, I really need to get going and get ready for school in the morning. Pick you up at 6:30?"

"Then I'll see you in the morning. Please get home safe, baby."

"You know it, will do." Jodi grabs his keys off her dresser and served up a few more kisses before heading out the same sliding door to the balcony the two had came in previously. With Jodi back in his car, he takes a moment to digest everything that just occurred. Leaving with more questions than answers, it seem like the pair were back in the pod together, but Jodi could only wonder the changes he would see going forward...

Chapter V: Commitment Issues

"Hey, Jodi! Good day, Jodi! Hello there! I'm DeShaun Foster, head coach at UCLA. Tony Sanchez at New Mexico State. Matt Viator, here at UL-Monroe. Eric Morris here, reaching out from North Texas. I'm Blake Anderson, head coach here at Utah State. Manny Diaz of Duke here, it's nice to talk with you..." "After reviewing your tapes, we like to have a sit down and talk furthermore. We'd like to offer a visit to our campus. We're highly interested in you playing at our school. We'd love to have you here. What we can do here at this school, can't be replicated elsewhere..." "You looking to go pro? Maximize your time here on our field. You got the drive? We'll hand you the keys. At our school, we're here to prioritize your needs, athletically and academically, we'll give you a reason to not leave without a degree for your future. You're the star of the show, let us set the stage for you to play at the highest collegiate level possible..." "We want you here at Oregon State. Colorado State would love to have you. I really believe you'll be a great fit here at North Carolina. Think about being close to home without leaving home, here at San Diego State, we can offer you that..."

Since his junior year at Monte Vista, Jodi has crossed paths with Colleges that took interest in him. The attention on him has only gotten more vibrant as his senior year continued, all the way up to winning Monte Vista's first state championship. Now the offers were coming out of the wood works. Problem is, Jodi had the time on his plate to commit. Plus, there's prom and graduation, so Jodi had his focus on milestones. But on the back end of that, Jodi understood that he could be missing opportunities with current offers. As open Jodi has been to receiving offers, attending campus visits on weekends, Jodi wanted to make sure he wasn't passing up the ideal school for what's in front of him. Ultimately, this led to procrastination, and with a few months between February and June, time was running out...

Image

"Checking up on your school offers?" Cassia asked.

"Ahhh, something like that."

"What do you mean, "something like that"?"

"It's nothing, Ma. Just going through a few e-mails."

"Yes, well, you know the rules, no phones at the table, so pocket it. Dinner is ready.

Image

Cassia grabs a geta plate, customary for sashimi and sushi, putting a serving onto it and setting it before Jodi before she grabs her own.

"Salmon nigiri, you know this is my favorite, Ma. You don't make this except for occasions, what's the deal?"

"You've been doing so well in school, with football finished and you guys winning state championships, your grades are all the way up, I just thought my little team captain would like a little treat."

"I'm not going to say no."

"what would you like to have to drink with it, Jodi?"

"Just some water, thank you."

Cassia sets a pitcher of water on the table, grabbing two glass cups and the two minced words and salmon for the hour.

"Jodi, have you really been thinking about what school you are going to?"

"Not really. Why?"

"I know you've gotten offers, but these schools would like an answer from you eventually. How much longer are going to put it off?"

"Not putting it off, per say, I just want to make sure I'm getting all I'm worth. There's a lot of schools that touched base with me, had a phone call or two, but not so many has offered a scholarship. Still, I have more than enough to narrow it down."

"I guess, sweety, I just don't want you letting a school pass up on you. Are any of them far away? Like the other side of the country?"

"A couple of them. I'm not too sure if I want to go that route though. I'd like to be close to home, but at the same time, I don't mind the adventure and seeing what's out there."

"I may be your mother, but don't let me and my age that's getting up there deter you from making the best decision for yourself, Jodi. I need you to understand that. You're 18, in a couple months, you'll be 19, and I've had the pleasure of watching you grow, raising you, but your time to leave the nest is coming."

"I know Ma, and that's been a part of why I haven't made a decision yet."

"Don't let it be. I want you to get out there and be the best version of yourself that you can grow into. You can't realize your full potential at home. So don't worry about me, I simply want the best for you."

"Thank you Ma, I really needed to hear that."

"I also got something else you should here too."

"Yeah? What's up?"

"Don't let that hussie, Prisha, hold you back either."

"Ma, come on, please with that?" Jodi pleaded with somewhat disgust to the animosity.

"I'm just saying, I don't want no one to interfere with your education and dreams."

"I know Ma, but she's not a problem. We've been trying to work it out, honestly."

"Even though we told you two not to speak to each other for a while."

Image

"Hakuna Matata?"

"Cute, but no, Jodi. We were very adamant about this for reasons."

"I understand, but you have to understand as well, it's my problem, not yours or her mother."

"You are right, it's not our problem, but it becomes a problem when strangers come on our property, taking our property without consent. Then things become dangerous."

"I get that Ma, and I promise no such thing like that will ever happen again."

"How can you make such a promise like that?"

"Well... If I go to a school out of state, then how could I have any drama here in Danville?"

"Jodi, running away is never the answer. All I'm saying is, there are much nicer girls out there for you."

"Ma... Are you trying to pimp me out? I still remember that time Ms. Johnson was looking at me and she told me if I was 6 years older-"

"Ahem, I get the rest, and I have disassociated her from our lives. But no honey, I'm not. You're young, I just want you to enjoy yourself, explore and discover yourself, and maybe, you'll find someone much better than that Prisha."

"And what if I don't? What if I do all that like you said, and at the end of it all, Prisha stands to be the one for me?"

"Well, then, it's fate for you two. But only if she feels the same way. And sweety, she's going to go through a lot of phases and indecisiveness. I don't want you have your head played with when you can focus on college and football. I just want you in the best situation."

"I know you do Ma, and I appreciate that. But, I'ma follow my heart on this one. I just can't walk away from 5 years. Just like it was for you, it wasn't easy. I'm sure you put up with a lot of nonsense and heartache, and I know that's what you want to protect me from, but that has already happened, more than you know. But a part of me... A part of me just can't walk yet... Not yet."

"Jodi, I can respect it. As long as you understand what you're doing, the path that you're taking, and the decisions you'll have to make may come with consequences. Whatever the powers may be, don't give up on your dreams."

Image

"With you in my corner, never a chance in hell I won't succeed." Jodi stands up from the table, inching around to hug Cassia and plant a kiss on her forehead.

"That's my baby boy, I'm so proud of the man you have become, and you still have so much more growing to do."

"And you'll be here for all of that, right?"

"I'll be here as long as you need me."

"I'm always gonna need you, Ma."

"My little Jodi, I love you. Couldn't ask for a better kid than you."

"I love you too, Ma. I'ma head upstairs and look at more of these schools."

"Good deal. Don't worry about the dishes, I'll handle them."

Jodi proceeded to exit the kitchen and take way to his room upstairs. Although still undecided where to go, he understood what he had to do, and by all means, make the best of every situation and absolutely every opportunity. With homework done, his phone cast aside with Spotify playing in the background, Jodi binged on the night over the actual emails from school and their information pertained to them, looking at last year season for each roster that offered a scholarship, seeing where to narrow things down. While the task at hand may be trivial, one thing was for certain, Jodi had what it takes to be that guy, it was just a matter of where to apply it...
