Captain Canada, So many damn calls. Holdings, clippings, we got called so much, it felt like a screwjob. :drose:

Major reason why he got so many passing yards. We got pushed back to our own endzone and just had to chuck that MF'er. Think we had like 2 or 3 90+ yard bombers.

Chapter II: On The Verge
After Friday night's big win over Long Beach, Monte Vista had advanced in the playoffs for round two, where they'll meet either Azusa High or Oak Park High. Whomever it was next, Jodi felt pretty confident to get the job done again. For now, Jodi had plans on celebrating the win with some R&R and homework that he promised to finish up by Monday. And being that it was Sunday, with only a few hundreds words left, Jodi wasn't in a rush.

After getting dressed and freshened up for the afternoon, Jodi headed downstairs to the kitchen, where he discovers a note left by his mother: Be back later, went to salon. Now discerned about her whereabouts, Jodi had free reign over the dominion without spontaneous house chores. He makes a bowl of his favorite cereal, Strawberry Frosted Flakes and almond milk, then make his way to the living room over, taking a seat in front of the 60" TV and throws on "Dragon Ball Super", pondering if they'll ever finish the series.

A few episodes in, Jodi's phone started to vibrate on the coffee table next to where his Nintendo Switch resided undocked. He looks down onto it, realizing it's a text from Prisha. Currently, she wasn't the first or last person on Jodi's mind, figuring he'll get to her when he's ready. Two minutes goes by and another text message from Prisha. Normally Prisha doesn't double text this quickly, now having Jodi curious to what the messages contained. Jodi sits upright and just as the tip of his fingers grasped the phone, a call from Prisha had officially disturbed the peace and tranquility.

"What, Prisha?"

"Excuse me? It's "hello, Prisha", "yes, Prisha", not "what", don't speak to me like I'm one of your hoodrat friends."

"Get to the point, my dear, sweet, Prisha", Jodi dreadfully rolling his eyes and letting out a sigh.

"A little better, but you can definitely work on your vernacular etiquette. Anyways, are you busy, right now?"

"And if I say yes?"

"Either yes or no, get your butt over here. I told you I needed to talk to you, have you forgotten?"

"Oh, my God, it had slipped my mind! I'm sorry, I'll be over there quick, fast, in a hurry."

"Stop playing around. Come here, now, please."

"Now?"

"I said, "please", geez you're so hard to deal with. Would you just be a good boyfriend for once and just do as I say?"

"Not a good boyfriend? What?" Jodi looks at his phone with his face screwed, in disbelief of what was being said to him. "Fine, you know what, I'll be there soon. Cause we definitely got something to talk about, clearly- hello? Hello?... This bitch hung up the damn phone on me." Jodi backs out to the main screen and puts his phone in rest mode, tossing it aside him onto the couch. Jodi had a few more months in school, and at least wanted to get through his senior year without his name in drama, or at least not have his relationship the talk of the whole school. But everyday it was something different with Prisha. Lately she's been nothing but a cold-hearted spoiled bitch that keeps her nose turned up to just about anyone, maybe even her mother if she wills it. But Jodi was tired coming to blows, tired of the demeaning. As much as it excited his loins, Jodi didn't need that type of energy festering in his next phase of life.

Though Jodi had his agenda to discuss things with Prisha, Jodi took an hour to him-self to find his center. The last thing was needed was Jodi storming over there with a lit fuse. After calming down, Jodi prepares him-self for arguably a long Sunday. Grabbing his keys off the living room chest, Jodi begins to make his way over to the bus stop. His car was still out of commission, and look like it would be for a while waiting on Mr. Alex.

For a Sunday, the public bus was extra crowded, making his 30 minute trek a ride on foot. Nevertheless, Jodi finally makes it to his destination stop, off boarding the bus. Jodi begins walking in the direction of Prisha's house, noticing a girl walking his way.

"Hey Jodi!" the girl waved with a big smile.

"Hey, what's up, Sandra?"

"Come here, give me a hug." Sandra hugs Jodi as if she was incredibly happy to see him. Sandra Madsen, a schoolmate senior at Monte Vista, as well as a dweller in Prisha's neighborhood. "What you doing around this way?"

"Nothing much, heading over to Prisha's."

"Prisha? That's your- your with Prisha???" Sandra asked, looking seemingly flabbergasted.

"Yeah..." Jodi responded with no enthusiasm.

"I didn't know y'all was together. I had figured you two were just really close friends. Never see y'all around school together like that, like that. Plus she never mentioned being with someone to me. This is new news to me!"

"Yeah, we're in a bit of a funky space right now. So, you know how that goes."

"Yeah, yeah, I do. Look, come with me to Starbucks, it's just down the block from here. Lets have a drink and talk for a bit, if you're not in a rush."

Jodi looks at his watch, seeing the time being only 3:25pm. He wasn't exactly in a rush to see Prisha, but wasn't entirely in the mode to stiff his "rebellious" girlfriend. But with daylight still out, Jodi would make some excuse to give Prisha for his lateness. "Sure, but I can't stay long. I kinda got unfinished business before tomorrow morning."

"I won't take up too much of your time, Mr. Big Football Star." Sandra grabs Jodi's arm, wrapping her-self around it. It was a short walk to Starbucks, Jodi didn't mind it as it seemed harmless to him. After getting inside the half-empty cafe, the two ordered two mochas and croissants. Sandra insisted on picking up the tab and Jodi was not about to argue about petty fees. The two took two seats near the front entrance and got to chopping it up about their weekend and upcoming winter break after awhile, the conversation redirected it-self back onto Prisha as the topic. Even when she's not around, Prisha always seem to be the center of attention.

"Sooo... You and Prisha, when that happened?"

"Shit, been some years now. Like 5 years now?"

"Damn, that long? I'm really just finding out about y'all two as a couple. So you said that y'all in a funky space, Can I ask what's going on there?"

"Why you so interested in my relationship with Prisha?"

"I'm not!" Sandra says playfully. "I'm just a girl, can't I get a sip of the tea?"

"Well, I'm just a guy, and guys don't "spill the tea" so recklessly."

"Hah! Don't let my big brother hear you say that. Not only does he spill tea, he makes more with extra sugar and spice, just to waste it all over the good white carpet."

Jodi sighs as at the failure of his species. "And just when I was about to take my Mom's advice and open up to a friend. Now you're telling me that you're genetically designed to messy situations, can't be trusted."

Sandra drops her jaw as her cheeks began to rise up in awe of being put on the spot. "I am nothing like him!... Maybe a couple of drip drops." Sandra gestured with her index and thumb in measurement.

"Yeah, uh huh, just keep it to yourself. I really don't want anybody else around school knowing about us like that. Trying to finish my last year in school as smooth as possible."

"Girl scout promise!"

"Right now, ain't nothing much going on between us. Feel like the chemistry and vibes are going two different directions. Plus with everything going with football, got people in my ear, emails, phone calls, then there's exams and graduation, there ain't been really much energy to focus on a relationship. I'm quite sure it's the same on her end, she got her own thing going on, plus exams and graduation for her too. We been together five years, but I'm thinking that road is coming to a head. Too many differences."

"I'm sorry, Jodi. But hey, maybe when you talk to her today, that can change the path. You two been together this long, y'all made it work, you got to have faith."

"Nah, I don't think it's that easy." Jodi said as he fiddled with the lip of the cup that still contained half of his mocha that sat idle next to a croissant that was broken off for a bite. Sandra could see the hint of sadness growing on his face.

"You love her, don't you?"

"Of course. She's one of the few consistencies in my life. I mean, she can be a total bitch all day long, but underneath that hard shell she use as a facade, she's caring, loving, sometimes overly worry too much about me."

"And you think she feels the same way about you?" Sandra takes a sip of her cup, awaiting his answer.

"Confidently, she better. Realistically, I'd like to think so. Can't be with someone as long as half a decade and not care, not love. What would be the point not to?"

"Some people have different motives, Jodi. Some that are not well intended for others."

Just when the conversation seem to fall into the deep end, Jodi opening up and being vulnerable, Jodi's phone goes off with another text message from Prisha, snapping him back to reality and getting to her place, it's been an hour since he met up with Sandra.

"Shit, I almost forgot I had to see this girl. Yo, Sandra, thanks for the mocha and croissant, and thanks for the therapy session, but our hour is up." Jodi joked as he got up from the table to make his departure. "I'll see you around, love."

"Hey! Jodi, wait! Please, don't go yet. There's something I have to tell you."

Jodi returns to the table, splitting his-self wanting to get to Prisha, but curious about what Sandra want to say. "What's up? I really got to go."

"It won't take long. Take a seat for a minute."

Jodi complies, folding his hands on the table, giving her his undivided attention.

"Well, you remember when I said that I only spill drip drop of tea. Well, there's some tea I may need to drop here. I can't let you go to Prisha without knowing."

"Know what? Tell me."

"... So, Saturday night, my brother and I had made plans to go see a movie and I was waiting on the porch for him to comeback."

"Okay..."

"He finally gets home, I get in his truck and we started to leave. And just as we were approaching the light, I saw white boy Derrick. You know, the one from my calculus class?"

"Yeah, I seen him around. Don't interact with him though. What about him?"

"Don't be upset right away and storming over there, and promise me that you didn't hear it from me?"

"Sandra..."

"Promise me. Please, Jodi?"

"Alright, alright, just get on with it."

"I saw Derrick go over to Prisha's house last night, flowers and candy in tow..."

"Naaah." Jodi rejected the thought, laughing a bit. "Prisha is many things I'd like to say, but she don't cheat. One thing I never doubt is her loyalty."

"I'm serious, Jodi." Sandra drew a straight face, letting Jodi know she was indeed serious. "Look, you're a nice guy Jodi. You always say hi to me, make laugh and stuff when you never had to. Not a lot of people speak to me cause they have their own bigot and prejudice views filled with envy and jealousy. But I'm not that girl for this situation. Do I like Prisha? Not nearly as much as you do, but I'm not the type to break happy homes. What she's doing behind your back is wrong, but that don't mean you have to walk around blindly in love. You're a big star to our team, and I'm sure you have a lot of programs trying to get you. But you don't need her weighing you down on your options. You deserve to know, Jodi."

Jodi sat there for a minute, digesting what Sandra disclosed to him. Jodi's heart began to rile up, thumping more vigorously as he felt his heartbeat. He couldn't believe Prisha would betray him like this.

"Sandra, are you sure that was him pulling up to her house?"

"Her house is lavish, and it sticks out like a sore thumb in our neighborhood for it's elegance. There's no mistaking it." Sandra nodded in confidence. "Furthermore, I overheard him talking to someone at school about getting condom wraps Friday afternoon. I didn't think much of it then, thought it was boys being boys, but then it started to add up when I saw him go over to her house-"

"Sandra, I'll talk to you later, I got to go." Jodi interrupted. It was at this point, Jodi has had it. After everything over the last five years, the talk backs, the down talking, the insults, the taunts, Prisha was automatically deem wicked in his eyes. For any other man, it's unfathomable anyone would stand for her abusiveness, but Jodi saw what most have not, a soft side of her. He knew her guard was simply on high alert, even for him until the last couple years. But cheating? Jodi wasn't having none of it.

"It took you long enough to get here!" Prisha shouted as the two made their way upstairs to her room. Prisha was sporting a light purple crop top with matching booty shorts that complimented her soft body well. If this was any other day, demon action would have been on the mind of Jodi, but after hearing and learning about Prisha's deception, his agenda was ironclad.

"There was a situation on the bus that required police assistance. Took them long enough to get it sorted out." Jodi lied.

"Hmpf, as long as it got nothing to do with you, I guess."

"You guess?"

"Yes, I guess. Do I look like the type to be dating a criminal?" Prisha rhetorically asked.

Many answers came to Jodi's mind, but kept his loose cannon jaw intact. "Perhaps. Who knows, never know until you try." he indicated.

"Oh really?" Prisha spins with a seductive smile on her face. She takes her finger, placing it on the middle of Jodi's chest, running it in curves, carving out a big heart trace that led her finger to run down over Jodi's abs as she can feel them through the hoodie he worn. "You think you'd be a little bad boy for me?"

"I'm anything but little."

"No, no your not." Prisha agrees as she pinches Jodi's chin softly. Though Jodi didn't appear vindictive on the outside, his detest for Prisha harbored inside.

"So, what is it that you want to talk to me about?" He asked while taking a seat at the foot of her bed, watching Prisha shuffle through her clothing in her walk-in closet. Laying it against her body to vision how'd she look in it.

"What do you think about this dress? Think it would look good on me?"

"....... You really bothered me to come cross town for a opinion on a dress? You couldn't have send a picture, video chat, anything but hassle me over here?"

"Um, is there something you want to tell me, Jodi?" Prisha's head limps a little to the side inquisitively.

"Something I want to tell you? You're the one who wanted me to come over here, you said that we had to talk. So let's talk, what is it?"

Prisha drew disappointment on her face as she silently returned the outfit back to her closet. "It's nothing, forget it."

"There's no forget it, Prisha. I'm a little irritated, I don't have time for your baffling shit, tell me what you wanted to talk about."

"THEN JUST GO! GO HOME, JODI! JUST FUCKING FORGET IT!" Prisha shouted erratically. "YOU ALWAYS DO THIS SHIT! WHY DO I HAVE TO DO THIS EVERY YEAR!? WHY CAN'T YOU FOR FUCKING ONCE REMEMBER!?"

"Hey! Lower your fucking tone when you're talking to me. What the hell are you talking about?"

"Our anniversary, you jack ass!" Prisha retorted. "It's been five years and you can't even remember the date we started being exclusive! Do you even fucking love me!? Every year, I'm always the one setting things up, I'm always preparing our date! All you do is give me excuses why you can't make it or how your piece of shit car is in the shop and needed the money to fix it, so you cancel on me without even trying to make up for it! why you be a fucking man for once without me doing anything!? Why can't you treat me like I'm your fucking girlfriend for once!?"

"I already told you to lower your tone, I won't ask you again. And who said I forgot this year?" When in reality Jodi actually did forget. But in his justification, he'd remember more things than not if she displayed her softer side to him a lot more often. Jodi and Prisha bickered like a couple who's been living together for just as long as they've been together and had enough of each other's presence.

"Look at your clothes, bozo! You come to my house wearing anything that doesn't look like you're prepared for a evening out tells me everything!"

The back and forth ensues for another five minutes until Prisha's phone lights up on the computer stand behind her. Without Prisha's concern for her phone, Jodi had the advantage of seeing who was reaching out to her and saw the name.

"You not going to get that? Go ahead and see what Derrick wants."

Prisha tried to hide the acknowledgement on her face, but her eyes widen up. "Excuse me? What?"

"You heard me. Derrick trying to get a hold of you. You're free to answer. No point in acting like I don't know what's going on."

"You really don't know what you're talking about."

"Oh, so there is something going on after all. I guess they were right."

"They? They who?"

"Don't worry about that, how about you worry how you're going to answer my next question: why the fuck are you doing me like this?"

"Doing you like what? I didn't do anything that you think I did!"

Jodi proceeds to punch the door to Prisha's room with his right hand, nearly hard enough to leave knuckle dents in it. "I swear on everything you're so lucky that I'm left handed-"

"Or what?" Prisha disrupted. "What? You're going to hit me?"

"... Nah, I would never. You're worth many things to me, but my freedom isn't one of them... But it's all good, we're gravy. You don't have to admit to shit. I already saw it on your face, you're guilty as fuck."

"Jodi-"

"Jodi, my ass. I'm fucking done with you, Prisha. I may have made bad choices in my life, but doing you wrong, the woman that I loved, I didn't have that me. Clearly you had it in you, big dog... I'm out this fucking place."

Jodi opens the door and makes his exit as Prisha flops onto the bed, sitting in confusion and frustration. Neither side seem keened on folding on their position as a unspoken break-up has commenced. A small blue light has flashed intermittently, reminding her of the notification on her phone, a missed call and a text from the suspected assisted-cheater. Prisha reaches for her phone, inputting her code to open the messenger from Derrick.

[Derrick: Hey, I tried calling. Just wanted to let you know that the mission is complete.]

After reading the text, tears started to foam on top of her lower eye lid, readily overflowing from her tear duct, down the side of her cheek and nose as she gently whimpered. Her bottom lip quivered as the sob grew and pause for one outburst. Jodi was already out of ear shot, Prisha's cries fell on silence until her room door opens again, rushing to her side is her mother, Wanda.

"My dear, why in heavens are you crying? I just passed Jodi on the way in, what happened?" Without much of an answer, Wanda wrapped her arms around her daughter, attempting to console her heartache.

It was nearly nightfall and the last bus was scheduled to arrive in five minutes. The wind was picking up and temperature was dropping. Fall was in full effect at this time of the year. Nevertheless, the cool breezes that blew somewhat violently sort of blew the steam out of Jodi. While the wind was calming to him, he wasn't a fan of being pushed around by nature. Though nature tried with her might, Jodi's mind remained intact on Prisha.

"Five years... What a fucking waste..." Jodi mumbled to him-self. Moments later, the final bus back to the side of his town had arrived and Jodi boards the bus, taking a seat in the back where the engine ran. The noise was mildly loud, but the vibration against his head soothed him for some reason. Jodi looks out the window, looking at buildings, houses, cars passing by, kids and adults on the sidewalk making their way to wherever they're going. A 30-minute ride home left him with a lot to think, as much as he tried not to. But a soft vibration from his phone in his pocket brings Jodi back to reality. Taking his phone out to see who the text was from, it was his mother, Cassia.

[Mom: HURRY HOME! THE CAR HAS BEEN STOLEN!]

"Oh my god, you gotta be fucking kidding me..."
