Jota Headlines Mass Exodus from Wolves to Start January Transfer Window

Image
Diogo Jota, Wolves' starting left-winger, has been sold to Inter Milan for a club record incoming fee of £36,5M. He is the first of a series five players making exits from Wolves to start off the January window. Many of these deals were agreed months prior but Wolves will see off strikers Donovan Wilson and Niall Ennis to Parana and SV Mattersburg for £650K and £490K respectively. Left-sided midfielder, Jordan Graham, is also set to join Reading for a £960K fee. Lastly, Will Hall, an academy graduate from just last season, has not been happy with the lack of games he's gotten through the middle at #10 with Wolves preferring the more experienced Ross Barkley and Joao Moutinho in the position, so he has also left to Toulouse for £3.8M.

A lot of these moves were necessary to clear deadwood from the club, but Wolves will need to replenish in January as well. They are said to be prioritising the signing of a young, starting left-winger to replace Jota in the long-term, and are will also promote academy attacking midfielder, Jonathan Green, to fill in for Will Hall as a prospect and depth option in that position.

Wolves Agree Pre-Contract Deal with Nabil Fekir

Image
Wolves have signed one of football's best and brightest attacking talents, Nabil Fekir from Olympique Lyonnais. The 26 year old attacking midfielder is one of the best players in his position, and finally decided that it's time for a step up from Ligue 1 to a more challenging league. With his contract running in the final six months, Wolves were not required to pay a transfer fee to Lyon and instead will simply pay the player's wages in order to acquire him. Wolves brass expect Joao Moutinho to leave or retire at the end of the year and while Ross Barkley has been productive in the #10 position, he hasn't quite been world class. Fekir brings that level of ability. His £81,000/week contract will make him the highest paid player at the club once Joeo Moutinho (£89K/week) leaves.
