2027 MEDIA GUIDE

BIG 12 MIDDLE OF THE PACK?

Just 3 years removed from being crowned Big 12 Champions, Arizona State is once again picked to finish middle of the pack in 2027. SMU/Nebraska/Texas Tech and Baylor start the year in the Top-25 for a reason and the Mustangs and Cornhuskers are favorites to repeat their spots in the Big 12 title game.

Coach Ryne Scott isn't the only new HC in the conference as Utah will be lead by former Boise State Bronco HC Spencer Danielson,, TCU will have former USF HC Alex Golesh , Houston will be lead by former West Virginia/Arizona/Michigan HC Rich Rodriguez and Iowa makes a interesting decision to go with former Michigan HC Sherrone Moore.

It will also be Year 2 for BYU's Chuck Martin and former BYU HC Kalani Sitake at Oklahoma State.

SCOTT ADDS SUN DEVILS LEGENG TO COACH STAFF

Taking over a HC, Ryne Scott knew he wanted to add someone to the staff who could help not only coach up his young QB's but also help bring some excitement back to campus. Using some connections that date all the way back to his high school days Coach Scott reached out and offered Jake "The Snake" Plummer a opportunity to come out of retirement and join him in Tempe. Scott had attended a football camp in Idaho that Plummer and some former Arizona Cardinal players had provided at his local high school..

Scott "J
ake is going to be a huge addition to our staff. Not only was a great QB here at ASU but he had a long (10 year career) in the NFL both here in Arizona and with Denver.. He is a sports legend.. I ran into this past year well vacationing in Sandpoint Idaho well before I took the job but he was one of the first calls I made when I accepted.. When you take a job late in the season it's hard to build a quality staff right away., so I am excited to bring Jake in. Besides his duties as QB Coach, Plummer will also hold the title of GM similar to what Andrew luck does with the Stanford Cardinals:"
THE SCHEDULE

The Sun Devils (82/81/84) will kickoff their season with a Week 1 Top-25 matchup with #19 North Texas (75/76/74). The Mean Green are coming off a impressive season that saw them earn a Top-4 seed to the CFP before losing a tough battle with #12 seed Florida State.

After a early "Bye" in Week 2, ASU will return to action with their home opener hosting Colorado State (66/66/66) in Week 3 before starting Big 12 play in Week 4 hosting TCU (76/74/81)

Week 5 Coach Scott will travel north to play UNLV (64/64/66) in the Sun Devils last non-conference matchup as Scott looks to finally hand the Rebels a loss.

Here is a look at the rest of the Big 12 schedule

Week 6 at #18 Texas Tech (74/71/79)
Week 7 vs Utah (76/74/79)
Week 8 at Iowa State (79/79/79(
Week 9 vs #17 Nebraska (90/91/89)
Week 10 at Colorado (82/81/84)
Week 11 vs Iowa (Senior Day) (82/84/81)
Week 12 at BYU (81/81/81)
Week 13 at Arizona (Battle for the Territorial Cup) (76/76/76)

Scott
"Personally I am okay with the schedule.. I feel like we got pretty lucky not getting SMU and Baylor on the schedule this year and I honestly like our chances in all 3 of the non-conference matchups. I think beating TCU in Week 2 could allow us to get off to a 4-0 start early which could be what we need to get to 7-8 wins this year. Our roster is young.. We only have 15 Seniors on the team and we got 30 Freshman. This isn't a rebuild that going to happen overnight"

SCOTT WINS HIS DEBUT

Coach Ryne Scott won his debut as the new HC of Arizona State picking up a Top-25 win in the process as the Sun Devils left Denton with a victory over the Mean Green in Week 1.

Tied (7-7) at the end of the 1st Quarter, Arizona State would take a (21-7) lead into the half as former Boise State Bronco Dylan Riley scores a pair of touchdowns.

North Texas would cut the lead to (21-14) in the 3rd as SO QB Chris Jimerson Jr (75 ovr) breaks free for a 34 yd touchdown run but that's as close as North Texas would make it. Both teams would trade a pair of missed FG's early in the 4th but late in the 4th Quarter Freshman John Fumagalli would knock down a 24 yd kick to give ASU the (24-14) lead with under 3 minutes to play.

Jimerson who took over the starting job this season with All-American Drew Mestemaker leaving early for the NFL, would try his best to lead a comeback attempt but a under thrown deep ball attempt is picked off by JR CB Javion White and White does the rest taking it to the house for the 73 yd "Pick 6" to close out the game.FINAL SCORE ARIZONA STATE-31 #19 N. Texas-14

Jimerson would finish the game 24/35 (68%) for 243 yds with 1 TD and 1 INT well also rushing for 31 yds and 1 TD. JR RB Caleb Hawkins (92 Overall) finished with 74 yds on 12 carries (6.2 avg)

offensive and defensive line looks sus

linebackers are definitely the strong suit of the defense. Same for HBs on the offense

#RTDB and definitely at least 9 wins is attainable

great opening win over a ranked opponent
