Philosophical question here.
Most if not all of us do not play our chise games at full length for one reason or another.
Some games (NHL used to, I think FIFA does) use the full clock, just accelerated, giving you somewhat accurate times for goals etc
In football you would have a scoring summary where nobody ever scores in the first 3-6 minutes of a quarter when compared to real game lengths, also, time of possession is skewed
I used to not put times in my scoring summary and I typically avoid putting actual numbers for time of possession
My question is this. In these situations if you were striving for realism would you:
1. Post the times and stats as they are in the game
2. Exclude the times
3. Extrapolate the times to make them equal to what the real life times would be
Extrapolating stats when playing shorter games etc

This is the most djp73 question in the history of djp73 questions.
The issue you have is that the TOP isn’t 60 minutes and that no scores happen with, say, 14:37 on the clock?
Anyway, post the stats as you play them. It’s key to the story of the game to know when scores happened and the time of possession. If you play 10 minute quarters, you only having the ball for 11 minutes could be pivotal. On that same note, a two-play scoring drive ending with a 1-yard touchdown after a scoring drive by the other team and a 14-play scoring drive ending with a 1-yard touchdown would only be differentiated by the time the touchdown is scored so I think you have to list the time in scoring summary.

what caused me to think about this is primarily the "laps led" stat in racing games.

a lot of us have dropped minutes down to 10 or 11 in CFB to reduce the amount of scoring.
But as Caesar said - aside from being OCD about it I don't see the big difference in not having someone score before the 10 minute mark. I still post the times because if the final score comes at 9:45 in the 4th or 0:45 in the 4th is a big difference

i agree with that. scores that come in super early irl are more rare anyway. i think, like u said, it matters if it comes with 0:45 remaining, doesnt matter as much if it comes at 14:50 or 6:30 for the storytelling purposes

i mean, ain’t nobody playing 45 minute halves of FIFA. The score would be 900-899 with 3,000 shots. I think most of us are playing close to full games tuned to represent realistic returns, for example, I’m not going to play 15 minute quarters on CFB if I’m getting each team running 130 plays a game regardless of play style.

I started at 11 minutes and I think OI am down to 9 to get realistic play counts
I put the scoring times in there now but I do not post TOP typically
