Oof, tough loss to Sam Houston Interesting to see you running with two teams. What's the plan if you ever end up with them against each other in a bowl or something?

Dude is a beast as long as we can stay true to our gameplan.
He is perfect for our offense!Chillcavern wrote: ↑12 Jul 2025, 10:11
So close and yet so far away. Oooof. Those are always tough.
But holy shit is Orji good for you or what

most of them are designed run plays, option keepers and such.
It was a true duel, can't believe we fell short like that.
very rough. It was indeed a killer, like you said especially on the road. Total collapse by us, hoping it won't happen again.

Heisman voters do love those dual threats. Going to have to get revenge with Hawaii.Captain Canada wrote: ↑13 Jul 2025, 20:35Orji putting up some Heisman numbers but that loss is going to sting for a while

QB Duel in the Desert: Hawaii Outguns Arizona in Tucson
TUCSON, AZ -- In a game defined by soaring passes, slick routes, and momentum swings, it was Hawaii quarterback Micah Alejado who outlasted Arizona’s Noah Fifita in a thrilling 31-28 victory at Arizona Stadium Saturday night.
What began as a typical early-season tune-up between a Big 12 contender and a visiting Mountain West squad quickly morphed into a full-blown quarterback showcase, with Alejado and Fifita trading highlight-reel throws deep into the desert night.
Hawaii struck first as Alejado opened the game with quick completions and a beautiful touchdown strike to Jackson Harris to put the Rainbow Warriors on the board.
But Arizona never blinked and Fifita answered immediately. He connected with Jeremiah Patterson in stride for what ended up being one of the best thrown balls of the night, a perfectly placed over-the-shoulder 40-yard touchdown.
From there, it was game on.
“This game turned into a track meet,” Hawaii head coach Timmy Chang said post game. “We trusted Micah to go out and read the field, and he did exactly that. He was fearless.”
Alejado threw three touchdown passes and routinely exploited Arizona’s soft spots in coverage, particularly on intermediate routes and screens. He stood "tall" in the pocket—even absorbing hits—and delivered strikes that kept the chains moving. His second touchdown, a dump-off to running back Cam Barfield, gave Hawaii a two-score edge late in the second quarter.
Arizona, to its credit, clawed back. With under two minutes left in the half Fifita and company quickly drove down the field and answered with a TD pass to make it a 3-point game heading into the halftime break. The junior quarterback finished with four touchdowns and over 300 yards through the air, routinely keeping Arizona in the game with his pinpoint accuracy and ability to extend plays. He completed 90% (36/40) of his pass attempts on the day.
Still, the turning point came in the fourth quarter.
Trailing by three, Alejado led a methodical, clock-chewing drive that culminated in a touchdown pass to put Hawaii ahead 31-28 with just over three minutes remaining. Arizona’s final possession ended in heartbreak—back-to-back plays of negative yards, a critical sack on third down and a dropped pass on fourth down that would seal their fate.
“You hate to see it come down to one or two plays,” Arizona head coach Brent Brennan said. “But that’s football. We’ve got to finish.”
The Rainbow Warriors’ defense bent but didn’t break in the final minutes, bringing pressure when it mattered most and stopping Arizona just outside the red zone on the final series.
Despite the loss, the Wildcats found positives in Fifita’s performance and the explosive potential of their offense. But for now, it’s Hawaii who walks away victorious.

This QB is off to a really really solid start for Hawaii. Especially from last season's QB

Just played this exact game in my online dynasty as Arizona and noticed the CPU didn't start Alejado. Seemed like a blessing in disguise.

You’ve had a couple of good games here from Alejado, including that big upset win there in the desert. Borderline best possible start thus far for Hawaii.
