Pacific football to begin play as independent
Talks with MWC, PAC12 have stalled

After initially attempting to work out deals with the Mountain West Conference and then the PAC 12 the Pacific football program has announced that they will begin play in the fall of 2024 as an independent.

“We're still hopeful to join a conference as soon as it is feasible.” Pete Carroll, an advisor for the program explained. “For now we're working on setting up some agreements with other schools for games in 2024 and beyond, aiming to set up some longer term series with them.”

Pacific has not yet disclosed any of those other schools, although an announcement is expected in the coming months.

Pacific and San Jose State agree to scheduling contract
Initial contract is for four meetings

Before Pacific terminated their football program they had played San Jose State 72 times. The 73rd meeting of that series will take place in the fall of 2024 after the two schools agreed to a contract to play a set of four games with the home team alternating each season.

"This is a rivalry with a ton of history." Pacific's Pete Carroll said when the deal was announced. "This was definitely one of the schools we had near the top of the list for us to rekindle our battles with."

San Jose State is the first confirmed opponent for the new iteration of Pacific football. Rumors of a scheduling deal with the PAC 12, which will include only Oregon State and Washington State for the 2024 season, have been circulating as well. Pacific's negotiations to join the PAC 12 as a football only member broke down but apparently the two sides are still working toward some form of an agreement.

There has been speculation that Fresno State and San Diego State are also on that list.

Pacific and Hawaii schedule 27th meeting for 2024
Tigers will travel to face Hawaii

Pacific now has a second confirmed opponenent for the 2024 season after agreeing to travel to face Hawaii in a game that is slated to take place early in the 2024 season.

The two schools have played 26 times in their history with Hawaii winning 16 of those games.

"Really an exciting trip for everyone." Pete Carroll said. "We're all really looking forward to it.

Pacific adds four more opponents for 2024
Oregon State, San Diego State, Washington State and Wyoming

Oregon State
As part of a deal with the PAC 12 Pacific and Oregon State will face off in 2024 with a possibility of adding future games if both schools agree. Pacific and the PAC 12 have both stated that they have not given up on the school joining the conference as they look to build their numbers back up after all but two schools departed for other conference. Pacific and Oregon State have played five times in their history with Oregon State holding a 3-2 advantage. The 2024 game will be at Reser Stadium.

San Diego State
San Diego State will play host to Pacific in 2024 with that meeting being the 24th between the two schools. San Diego State has claimed victory in 16 of those contests.

Washington State
As part of a deal with the PAC 12 Pacific and Washington State will face off in 2024 with a possibility of adding future games if both schools agree. Pacific and the PAC 12 have both stated that they have not given up on the school joining the conference as they look to build their numbers back up after all but two schools departed for other conference. Pacific and Washington State have played 13 times in their history with Washington State claiming the win eight times. Pacific will host the 2024 game at Amos Alonzo Stagg Stadium.

Wyoming
Pacific and Wyoming will meet for the fourth time in 2024 with Pacific hoping to even things up at 2-2. No further games between the two have been discussed at this time. Pacific will host the game.
