Stoops Praises Freshman QB Cutter Boley After Steady First-Half Relief Performance
LEXINGTON, Ky. — After a rocky start from veteran quarterback Zach Calzada, Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops made a bold in-game decision Saturday against Eastern Michigan, turning to true freshman Cutter Boley midway through the second quarter. The move came after Calzada threw his second interception of the half, putting the Wildcats’ early momentum in jeopardy.
Boley, a highly touted in-state recruit, didn’t shy away from the moment. The freshman completed 6-of-7 passes for 53 yards, helping steady Kentucky’s offense until halftime.
“He handled it like a pro,” Stoops said postgame.
“For a young guy to come in under those circumstances and keep his composure like that — it tells you a lot about his future. We were really pleased with how Cutter operated the offense and gave us a spark when we needed it.”
Calzada returned after halftime and settled back in, finishing the night 14-of-24 for 186 yards with two touchdowns to go along with his early turnovers. The veteran’s rebound helped Kentucky secure the win and improve to 2-1 on the season.
With a bye week up next, the Wildcats now turn their attention to a massive Week 5 showdown on the road against No. 5 South Carolina — a game that could have early SEC East implications.

Yeah I think I need to adjust the run blocking slider a bit in my favor.

I'll let him rock for this first season & see how he does. Mid season coaching change would really see us fall apart
