RT #75 Sullivan Absher, Rs Junior | 6'7", 325lbs | 83 ovr, 97 str, 86 pbk, 77 rbk

Coach Singleton's Notes:
‣ The lack of speed in the backend is evident so going to start cornerback Rico Smith at safety with Jamison Patton and Taylor Medina over Thomas Heiberger, The project to convert him from a linebacker has been a failure so we're going to put him in the box more as a linebacker.
‣ We have to settle into the game quicker and not allow things to get out of hand like in the UCLA game. The Irish have some explosive weapons in Jahiem White and Jaden Greathouse who can make a play out of nothing so we need to run to the football, get off blocks and make them play in a phone booth and not in open space.

Coach Singleton's Post Game
Q: A lot of improvements on defense, coach but ultimately, another one possession loss, how do you..
A: I'm just so fucking proud of our guys right now. I don't really care about the outcome of this particular game and I'm not one to hang my hat on moral victories or even count those but to come in here, after the tough couple weeks we've had and put out this effort, I'm super proud. I love the way they battled, love they way they competed, hung in there even when things weren't going our way. Just a real good group in there that showed me something.

Q: Rico Smith got the snap at safety over Thomas Heiberger, is that something we can expect to continue?
A: I wouldn't get too hung up on starters, honestly. Thomas (Heiberger) still played a lot of snaps today, still was a key part of what we wanted to do defensively to slow down their defense. We played guys everywhere today, I think (Taylor Medina) played more boundary corner snaps than any other position and he's not a boundary corner by any means. We're just moving guys around, matching them up with where they can have the most impact and going on from there.

Q: Do you feel like the defense did enough today to earn a win?
A: We shit the bed against UCLA, gave up two big touchdowns in the fourth against Purdue and then in the opener, we had the game won until they went up top on our ass. So, we're not in a position to point fingers and be upset about the offense's lack of production. Was the offense good today? Of course not, they'll be the first one to tell you but we've been completely fucking terrible the whole year so until we fix our shit and we can go out there, hold teams to seventeen, twenty points on a consistent basis then you can look across the aisle and start bitching about shit. But until then, shut the fuck, do your job and go from there.

RT #70 Calvin Clements, Rs Junior | 6'7", 315lbs | 83 ovr, 90 str, 82 bk, 79 rbk

Coach Singleton's Notes:
‣ The vibes are pretty good after the Notre Dame, even with the loss. Positive reinforcement seems to be the way to go with this group.
‣ Completely different team from what we've faced so far this season. Scheme wise, it would call for a heavier front with bigger bodies in the secondary -- similar to what we rolled out in previous weeks -- but also want to continue to get Rico Smith snaps at his new position as well as Thomas Heiberger.
‣ If we do struggle with the running game, we do have some options with taking Smith out and putting in a bigger body like Heiberger
‣ Mike Werner is going to have to show me something because I don't believe in him, at all. We're going to bring pressure on early downs, see if we can get him behind the sticks and see if he can make those downfield throws which I don't believe he can.

Really beared down on the run game and had an overall good game as a defense. Need to get this first damn win.

My man about to have his cup of coffee and get sent back down to the minor leagues.

So close against ND but fell apart at the end. Probably got gassed from the offense doing nothing.

Major jump for Jerome.

UL-L wasn't messing around. Looking at the playoffs, that loss wasn't that bad.

Georgia smacked Clemson....Brian Kelly is out of BR.....

If we play like we did against Notre Dame, we're definitely beating Iowa, just need the offense to score 17 points

While we played Auburn and LSU tough, that was one game. Ain't no easy dubs out here, just tough opponent after tough opponent.
