May 1st, 2026 - LaLiga Update

Image
Valladolid remain top 2/3 of the way into the season.

Real Valladolid’s remarkable 2025/26 campaign continues to edge closer to history, with Cesc Fàbregas’ side sitting top of La Liga on 77 points after 32 matches, four ahead of Barcelona with a game in hand. The team’s free-flowing attack has been sensational, netting 99 goals this season, led by Franco Mastantuono’s 22 strikes and the continued brilliance of Amath Ndiaye and Munir in support.

However, the run-in has taken a blow: Ander Herrera suffered a dislocated shoulder in the recent 3-0 win over Elche. The 36-year-old midfielder, who leads La Liga with 15 assists, will miss the rest of the season. His loss leaves Valladolid without their creative heartbeat just as the title race hits its decisive stretch.

With Real Madrid and Barcelona still in pursuit, Valladolid will need Mastantuono’s magic, Ndiaye’s pace, and Álvaro Aceves’ steady hands to step up and finish what Herrera helped build—a potential first-ever La Liga crown for the club.

Valladolid's November Schedule
  • 5/3/2026: @ CD Leganes (LaLiga)
  • 5/9/2026: @ UD Las Palmas (LaLiga)
  • 5/13/2026: @ Athletic Bilbao (LaLiga)
  • 5/17/2026: vs. Atlético de Madrid (LaLiga)
  • 5/20/2026: @ CA Osasuna (LaLiga)
  • 5/24/2026: vs. CA Osasuna (LaLiga)

Valladolid Sign Can Uzun from Frankfurt for €25M

Can Uzun is a #10 with the ability to play striker and will likely wear the #9 and start there for Valladolid this year.

Real Valladolid have announced the signing of Turkish starlet Can Uzun, a 20-year-old attacking midfielder standing 6’1, for the 2026/27 campaign. Long viewed as one of Turkey’s brightest prospects, Uzun arrives with a reputation for creativity, flair, and an eye for goal. Under Cesc Fàbregas, he will be converted from his natural No.10 role into a false nine striker, expected to orchestrate play and finish chances at the tip of Valladolid’s attack. The move signals Fàbregas’ trust in youth and tactical innovation, with Uzun poised to grow into a central figure of the club’s evolving style.

Valladolid Trigger €19.8M Release Clause of 19-Year-Old Starlet Tobias Ramirez Cardoso

Ramirez most recently played for UD Las Palmas but hails from the renowned Argentinos Junior academy.

Real Valladolid have paid somewhat over the odds for Tobias Ramirez Cardoso of UD Las Palmas, triggering the nearly €20M release clause for a player who most valued at just €10M. The reason why is simple though, the club has been searching for a future successor to captain, Javi Sanchez. Sanchez is 29 and likely to not have too many seasons left as a first choice player and needs a viable understudy for him. Valladolid think they have found that in Cardoso who hails from Argentina, stands 6'1 and is one of the most athletic center backs in world football, blessed with an uncanny combination of strength, leaping ability, stamina and pace. He will learn behind Sanchez who is 10 years his senior, and eventually replace him as the starting #4. Separately from this deal, the club also let 29-year-old CB, Stanko Jurić join AZ Alkmaar for €2.1M as he was deemed surplus to requirements with Cardoso coming in.

Valladolid Pick Up Bernal from Barcelona for €3.85M

The 19 year old from La Masia will add depth at LDM.

Real Valladolid have secured the signing of 19-year-old midfielder Marc Bernal from FC Barcelona for €3.85 million. The highly rated defensive midfielder will serve as backup to Amir Richardson in the left-sided holding role, giving Cesc Fàbregas more depth and flexibility in the center of the park. Bernal, known for his composure, tactical intelligence, and crisp distribution, is seen as a long-term project who can grow into a key contributor under Valladolid’s possession-based style. At just 19, he brings youthful energy and upside, while the modest fee reflects a shrewd piece of business for the reigning La Liga champions.
