FedEx Forum, Memphis, TN
After suffering a minor injury in the Lakers’ win over the Pistons, Walker Kessler was back in the lineup as the Lakers travelled to Memphis to face Ja Morant and the Grizzlies. The Grizzlies were playing without Jaren Jackson, Jr. (wrist) and Zach Edey (hip).
The matchup was tightly contested as both teams battled form the opening tip, neither team leading by more than 7 points throughout the night.
Takeaways
Lakers
Los Angeles’ star big man, Anthony Davis struggled to get going tonight, going two of seven from the field. While the play of their back court has been top tier with stellar performance by James and Grace all season, Davis will be expected to contribute at some point.
Grizzlies
Memphis played well in this one despite the outcome. Los Angeles found another gear in the final moments, making clutch shots and key stops. Had the roster been at 100% strength, this one may have been very different.
Key moment
Bronny James hitting a three point shot with less than 30 seconds left in regulation to break the tie.
Key stat
Anthony Davis finished with only 4 points.
